Morning Summer Sessions
Davis Community Track Club's morning summer sessions are a great way for kids age 4 and up to get Track & Field experience in a fun, supportive environment. Returning and older students can use the camp to build skills in their favorite events and maintain fitness.
Practices are Monday through Friday, 9am - 11am at the Davis High School track.
Our experienced coaching staff and high school athletes guide students through a 1-week training curriculum, where they have the opportunity to learn or practice track & field events of their choosing, including:
- Jumps -- Long jump, triple jump and high jump
- Pole Vault
- Throws -- Discus and shot put
Morning Summer Sessions Age Ranges
Our program offers age-appropriate instruction for TK/kindergarteners up through and including high school athletes.
Our 4-6 year old group will have a minimum of two assigned coaches. This exploratory group will experience all track and field events: throwing, jumping, sprinting, hurdling, distance running, and pole vaulting.
The 7-9 year old group is still "exploratory," meaning they will get exposure to all events. We still assign specific coaches to this group. At this age, some athletes will begin to specialize a little, and we will offer event group options depending on athletes' needs.
The 10 through 14 year old group will experience the rigor of challenging workouts, which we do at the beginnig of each day. We then break out into event groups, where athletes can self-select their event focus. For new athletes, we offer opportunities to learn all track and field events. We will provide advanced training for experienced track and field athletes.
High School Athletes: For high school athletes, we offer instruction every day for hurdlers and sprinters. We have triple jump and long jump practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays. NOTE: high school distance runners should enroll in the evening distance practices (see below). High school pole vaulters should enroll in our pole vault practices with Coach Rick firstname.lastname@example.org.
